Roman saini and his student from unacademy

Aman Mittal , an IIT-Delhi graduate, got rank 20
in Civil services exam, 2014 and will be joining
IAS-2015 batch.
He reminds me so much of myself, gave exam
while still in college, same age, was demotivated
whenever he felt alone, overcame those obstacles
and got through in his first attempt. The article
below is copied from his Facebook post.
Journey for IAS
(Unacademy and Roman Saini)
Aman Mittal (Roll number: 275061)
First of all, allow me to thank all the well-
wishers, friends and family who have been of
immense support to me throughout my period of
preparation. I am especially writing this note to
thank the immense help of Roman Saini Sir and
his initiative in the form of both the Unacademy,
along with his friend Gaurav Munjal , as well as
the interview preparation by way of a WhatsApp
group for all the aspirants. I came to know of the
initiative (Unacademy) around 10 days before
prelims. I remember watching the ecology and
history lectures of the same before the prelims. I
have to admit- they were quite impressive and
largely self-sufficient in the topics they used to
cover. As I was preparing at home, I needed a
constant source of motivation. So, after the
mains, I watched his videos and the TEDx talk
later which was really inspiring. Though I would
like to quote heavily from the same, I strongly
advise people to directly watch the TEDx talk at
least wherein many practical tips have been
given. But while watching the same, one must
take in whatever it feels appropriate for
themselves. I could relate extensively so I
followed him around 70%, but it need not be the
same for all. But at least watching the video
would certainly be worth the time spent in the
same. The most important part has been the
WhatsApp group for the people who had cleared
the mains and were to appear in the interview. As
my interview was quite early, I used to simply put
a few doubts as well as check out the responses
of others’ queries at the end of the day for around
10 days. It made one feel connected and allows
sharing of opinions which is the most crucial part
of civil services these days.
Roman sir started making these videos in August
2014 and though not even one year has passed,
yet he already have made 100+ high quality
tutorials (which I believe most coaching can't
match, even after taking a 6-digit fees and all this
was done despite his extremely hectic schedule
being an IAS).
These tutorials deals with topics like Polity,
Aptitude, Environment, Ecology, Geography, World
History, Science and Technology, Art and culture,
Ancient history, Tips on improving memory,
mnemonics, efficiently reading Hindu, Yojana,
using technology, what to do on exam day and
many more.
Many people who can't afford coaching due to
financial constraints or are living in far-flung
areas are now on a more equal footing and have
a decent chance of competing with those who are
residing in Delhi and attending classes.
Finally, Let me simply thank you once again and
seek your guidance so that I may fully utilise this
opportunity granted to me in service of the nation.
