1. निबंध के टॉपिक का चयन

सही टॉपिक का चयन बेहतर अंक के लिए जरुरी है , परीक्षा में सिर्फ इस आधार पर किसी टॉपिक को न छोड़ें क्योंकि उससे सम्बंधित तथ्य एवं आंकड़ों का आपके पास अभाव है | वास्तविक अर्थों में अधिकतम टॉपिक ऐसे होते हैं जिससे आप तथ्यात्मक रूप से ज्यादा रूबरू नहीं होते हैं | निबंध परीक्षक आपसे आंकड़ों का बैंक नहीं चाहता बल्कि आपसे उस टॉपिक के ऊपर एक एप्रोच व संकल्पनात्मक स्पष्टता के साथ साथ उस विषय पर आपकी अभिवृति का परीक्षण करना चाहता है |
टॉपिक के चयन का मुख्य आधार यह होना चाहिए कि आप उस टॉपिक से कितना अपने आप को कनेक्ट कर पा रहे हैं , उससे सम्बंधित सभी आयामों को कितनी सफाई से आपस में जोड़कर नए विचार , जो भविष्य उन्मुखी हों , रचनात्मक हों, सकारात्मक हों , उसे प्रस्तुत कर पा रहे हैं | अतः किसी टॉपिक के रिजेक्शन से पहले उसपर गंभीरता से विचार करें |
सही टॉपिक का चयन २५ फीसदी काम आसान बना देता है और आप औसत से अधिक अंक प्राप्त करने के प्राधिकारी बन जाते हैं | किसी टॉपिक के चयन में पंद्रह मिनट से ज्यादा न लगे ,इसका विशेष ध्यान रहे |
आज आपको निबंध के लिए विषयवस्तु के चयन को सिखाते हैं , सामान्यतः अगर विश्लेषण करें तो आप पाएंगे की सिविल सेवा परीक्षा में पूछे जाने वाले निबंध में से निम्नाकित तीन क्षेत्रों से अवश्य प्रश्न मिलते हैं|

3. Essay Syllabus for IAS exam

The essays must be written in the medium as specified in the admission certificate issued to the candidates. The name of the medium must be stated clearly on the cover of the answer- book in the space provided for the purpose. No credit will be given to the essay written in a medium other than that specified in the admission certificate.
Any page or portion of the page left blank, must be struck off clearly.
From 2014, there are eight topics in the IAS Mains Essay paper segregated in 2 sections. Write two essays choosing one from each of the sections A and B in about 1,000-2,000 words each. The word limit must be adhered to strictly.
Each essay will be marked on 125.
Candidates will be expected to keep closely to the subject of the essay to arrange their ideas in orderly fashion, and to write concisely. Credit will be given for effective and exact expression.

4. What to do ???

Candidates will be required to write an essay on a specific topic. There will be choice given from a variety of subjects. The candidate is expected to stick to the subject of the essay and arrange their ideas in an orderly way. The writing has to be in concise way with numerous points in support of your essay topic. Those who has presented the essay in an articulate way with effective expression is likely to score high marks.
This paper plays a crucial role in determining the rank of the student. Most of the top rankers have scored above 55% in this paper. Some candidates have also scored around 60%. Such score can help the students to secure a position in the top ten ranks of the merit list.
Correct choice of topic and the appropriate method of writing are important. It is advised to choose factual topics where you can pack in lot of information. Try to avoid topics that are controversial in nature.

5. Method of Writing:

After deciding the topic
1. Start brain stroming
2. Write down all the ideas that you about the topic.
3. Do not classify or systematise your points at this stage.
4. Put them on paper randomly as they flow in.
5. Later, arrange the ideas in a logical and sequential manner.
6. Having arrived at the sequence, start writing, giving due care to the introduction, the body and finally the conclusion.
7. Ensure that you have enough time for revision.
8. Remember it is a General Essay Paper and you should not be highly technical.

लिहाज़ा निबंध के प्रश्नपत्र में अच्छे अंक पाने के लिए इस पर थोड़ा ध्यान दें:
1. अभ्यास का कोई विकल्प नहीं है। हर हफ्ते तीन घंटे के लिए बैठें और डेढ़-डेढ़ घंटे में कुल 2 निबंध लिखने का अभ्यास ज़रूर करें। इसका आपको बेहद फायदा होगा।

2. पहले कुछ मिनटों में निबंध की एक लिखित रूपरेखा ज़रूर बना लें, इसमें निबंध के विषय के विस्तार के पक्ष, तथ्य, उदाहरण और उक्तियाँ शामिल कर सकते हैं।

3. विषय तसल्ली से चुनें। उसी क्षेत्र के विषय चुनें, जिन पर आपकी पकड़ और समझ अच्छी हो। उदाहरण के लिए, विज्ञान पृष्ठभूमि के लोग तकनीकी विषयों पर कुछ बेहतर लिख सकते हैं। मुझे साहित्य-संस्कृति-मीडिया और अध्यात्म से जुड़े विषय ज़्यादा आकर्षित करते हैं। अमूर्त विषयों पर मैं ज़्यादा बेहतर लिख पाता हूँ। मेरी सलाह है कि अपनी रूचि और सम्बंधित विषय क्षेत्र की समझ के आधार पर निर्णय लें।

4. शुरुआत प्रस्तावना से करें, जो कई तरह की सकती है, जैसे कोई प्रसिद्ध कथन या उक्ति, कोई उदाहरण या विषय की पृष्ठभूमि। पर प्रस्तावना में एक विजन होना चाहिए और विषय के विस्तार का संकेत भी होना चाहिए।

5 . निबंध को पैराग्राफ में ही लिखें। एक पृष्ठ पर दो से तीन पैराग्राफ अच्छे लगते हैं।

6. जिस तरह खाना न केवल अच्छा बना हो, बल्कि उसका ढंग से परोसा जाना भी उतना ही महत्वपूर्ण है, ठीक इसी तरह निबंध में भी प्रस्तुतीकरण का अच्छा-खासा महत्त्व है।

7. विषय का विस्तार करते वक़्त कोशिश करें कि उसके ज़्यादातर पहलुओं को छू सकें । हर विषय के बहुत से पक्ष हैं, जैसे- आर्थिक, सामाजिक, सांस्कृतिक, दार्शनिक, ऐतिहासिक और वैज्ञानिक। जितने ज़्यादा पहलुओं को छुएंगे, उतना अच्छा प्रभाव पड़ेगा। पर व्यर्थ के विस्तार से बचें।

8. क्रमबद्ध और व्यवस्थित ढंग से लिखें। बेतरतीब और मनमाने ढंग से लिखना खराब प्रभाव छोड़ता है।

9. शब्द सीमा का अतिक्रमण करके समय और श्रम व्यर्थ न करें।

10. निबंध पूरे जीवन के अध्ययन और अनुभव का एक निचोड़ है। लिहाज़ा पढ़ते रहें, लिखते रहें और सीखते रहें।
